| USA/Canada Region discontinues GROW, invites input for new magazine
Friday, November 6, 2009
Recently, the USA/Canada Region made the decision to discontinue GROW Magazine, with the last issue being Summer, 2009. Since GROW's inception in 1989, a lot has changed. Models and thinking about how churches grow, mature, and proliferate have become more dynamic and diverse.
Changes in Nazarene denominational structures and attitudes, the recognition of the U.S. as a mission field, and cultural changes have prompted the need to reassess how to think and talk about church development and ministerial practice in a new century. Even the organization that "conceptually" shaped the creation of GROW has recently been renamed from the American Society for Church Growth to The Great Commission Research Network.
In an effort to better serve the church, the USA/Canada Regional Office feels it is time for a new publication to resource Nazarene clergy and church leaders. The magazine will be teamed with a more dynamic web site presence. With this in mind, an online survey has been created to solicit input from Nazarene clergy and church leaders about their interests and preference for the new publication. The survey, which can be completed quickly and easily, can be found in two ways:
1) Visit www.usamission.org, and click on the survey link at the top left of the page
2) Or you may click here to be taken directly to the survey.
"We thank clergy and church leaders for taking the time to provide this information," said Bob Broadbooks, USA/Canada regional director. "As the Church of the Nazarene enters its next 100 years, we want to provide resources that will continue to encourage hearts and empower ministry."
